Jennifer L. McGovern

Jenn’s primary area of practice is civil litigation, with a focus on contract disputes, insurance defense, non-competes, construction disputes, land and property issues, landlord/tenant disputes, and other general litigation matters for businesses and individuals. She also engages in certain transactional work, including reviewing and negotiating employment agreements, non-competes and other restrictive covenants,
residential and commercial leases, and corporate documents. 

Jenn has always had a passion for being a zealous advocate in the courtroom, as her college and high school mock trial experiences led her to earn a membership on the William & Mary National Trial Team before becoming a career litigator. An Ohio native, Jenn received her Bachelor’s degree from Miami University in 2014. In 2017, Jenn received her law degree from William & Mary Law School where, along with her membership on the William & Mary National Trial Team, Jenn earned a membership to the William & Mary Law Review. Upon graduating, she received the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association’s 2017 Trial Advocacy Award for excelling in demonstrating the talents and attributes of a trial advocate.

Since joining the firm in 2017, Jenn has been actively involved in the Fredericksburg community, including involvement in the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Next Generation of Business Leaders, and serving as the 2021-2022 President of Fredericksburg, VA Main Street, Inc., a local non-profit organization focused on the historic preservation and economic vitality of downtown
Fredericksburg. Jenn also serves on the Board of Governors for the Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region. Jenn was recognized in 2019 as a recipient of the Top 10 of the NextGen award, honoring Fredericksburg-area professionals under the age of 40, and she has been recognized as a “Rising Star” in the Virginia Super Lawyers’ publication.

Jennifer holds memberships to the Virginia State Bar, the Fredericksburg Area Bar Association, and the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys and is admitted to practice in the following jurisdictions:
