JENNIFER LEE PARRISH

Jennifer has been practicing law in Fredericksburg since 1990, and is the managing partner of the firm. Her primary practice areas include civil litigation defense, insurance defense, local government law, school law and employment law defense.

After graduating as valedictorian of Hopewell High School in Hopewell, Virginia, Jennifer attended Mary Washington College, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Political Science in 1987, graduating magna cum laude. She attended law school at the University of Virginia School of Law, and received her law degree in 1990.

Jennifer has been very active in the Virginia State Bar. She served six years as a member of Virginia Bar Council, the governing body of the Virginia State Bar, having been elected for a three-year term in July 2014, and re-elected for another three-year term in July 2017. Jennifer previously served a three-year term on the Virginia State Bar’s Judicial Candidate Evaluation Committee, which interviews and evaluates potential candidates for judgeships. In the past, she served on the board of the Litigation Section of the Virginia State Bar from 2002 through 2009 (Chairperson, 2008-2009; Secretary 2006-2007; Vice Chair, 2007-2008). She also served as a member of the Virginia State Bar Sixth District Disciplinary Committee from 2004 to 2010, as Secretary, Vice Chair, and then Chairperson. Jennifer has served as a substitute judge in the District Courts of the 15th Judicial Circuit; has served two four-year terms on the Commonwealth of Virginia Board for Contractors; and has served as a faculty member teaching helped teach  the Virginia State Bar Professionalism Course to new lawyers.

Due to her professional reputation among other lawyers in Virginia, Jennifer has been named for several years as a member of the “Legal Elite” in civil litigation by the Virginia Business Magazine and as a “Super Lawyer” and a “Top Attorney in Virginia” by Richmond Magazine’s Super Lawyers section. In 2019 through 2022, she has been named as one of the “Top 100 Attorneys in Virginia” and as one of the “Top 50 Women Attorneys in Virginia” by Richmond Magazine’s Super Lawyers Section. Jennifer was named in “Best Lawyers in America” for work in personal injury defense in 2013 through 2021. For numerous years, she has been named as a “Top Rated Lawyer” by American Lawyer Magazine and as a “Top Lawyer” by Northern Virginia Magazine.

Jennifer is a member of the Virginia State Bar, the American Bar Association, the National School Boards Association Council of School Attorneys, the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys (where she served on the Board of Directors from 2001-2004), the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys (where she served on the Executive Council from 2015 – 2018, Mid-Atlantic Regional Chair from 2010 to 2019, State Chair from 2000 to 2010, and as Chair of the New Member Committee from 2001 to 2007), the Fredericksburg Area Bar Association, (where she served as President in 2011 and formerly as Secretary) and she has served on the University  of Mary Washington Pre Law/Mock Trial Advisory Board.
